His Excellency Bramha Kumar, Ambassador of the Republic of India to Zimbabwe delivered an enlightening presentation on India’s remarkable digital revolution and lessons Africa can derive. The online session hosted by the Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy for students of Contemporary Diplomacy and  International relations, highlighted India’s journey in digital transformation, focusing on innovation, technology adoption and government policies that have driven economic growth and social inclusion and development.

Ambassador Kumar emphasized the importance of digital infrastructure, inclusive access to technology and the role of policy in empowering citizens. He discussed how India’s digital initiatives such as Aadhaar and Unified Payments Interface (UPI) have created transformative impacts in sectors like finance, healthcare and education.

The dialogue underscored the potential for African countries to leverage technology and innovation for sustainable development. With Africa’s youthful population and growing mobile connectivity, the lessons from India’s digital revolution are both timely and relevant. Ambassador Kumar’s presentation is a step towards fostering deeper collaboration between India and Africa in advancing digital progress in the dimension of South South Cooperation.
