On 9 June 2026, the Embassy of Canada hosted its National Day celebration in Zimbabwe, which also marked the farewell of Ambassador Adler Aristilde and his family. The event was attended by government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, development partners and other distinguished guests including Ambassador V.A. Chikanda, Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy (ZID). The Guest of Honour was Ambassador Nesbert Samasuwo, Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
In his remarks, Ambassador Aristilde highlighted the strong relationship between Zimbabwe and Canada, expressing gratitude for the hospitality extended to him and his family during their stay. He also noted Canada’s support for humanitarian assistance, food security and climate-related initiatives.
The Guest of Honour commended Canada’s contribution to Zimbabwe’s development and reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties between the two countries, emphasizing Zimbabwe’s commitment to international cooperation. The National Day celebrations highlighted the enduring friendship between Zimbabwe and Canada and provided a fitting farewell to Ambassador Aristilde and his family as they concluded their diplomatic mission in Zimbabwe.
