DIPLOMAT OF THE YEAR AWARDS 2017

Have diplomats made our world safer? Can the world survive without diplomats? Answers to these will be given at the Annual Diplomat of the Year Awards Ceremony where diplomats from various countries will converge at the beautiful Sango Conference Centre, Cresta Lodge, Harare on Friday 10 March 2017. Diplomats accredited to Zimbabwe from over 60 countries are to receive acknowledgement and awards from the Diplomat Appreciation Trust (DAT). It is for the time being unknown who the winners will be.

The selection and shortlisting of the nominees to the Awards was done last year by the DAT Nomination Committee chaired by Mr V. A Chikanda, Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy.

The Awards will underscore the immense contribution diplomats make to world peace, security and development. The timeless efforts, dedication and selfless endeavours of diplomats have made humanity realize that it is “better to hear the message than to kill the messenger.” The work of diplomats and their protection is enshrined in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961, as well as in the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, 1963.

The Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy recognizes the immense contribution by Mr Reginald Chapfunga, a distinguished and humble man who is a journalist and founder of the DAT.

You are all invited to attend the ceremony. Come and witness diplomats being appreciated for their outstanding work and achievements in Zimbabwe.
