INSTITUTE OF DIPLOMACY EQUIPS LAW SOCIETY WITH PROTOCOL, EVENT AND CONFERENCE HOSTING SKILLS FOR SADCLA ANNUAL CONFERENCE
The Law Society of Zimbabwe Staffers headed by its Executive Secretary Mr Edward Mapara on Friday 2 August 2019 received intensive in-house training and coaching in Protocol, Event and Conference Hosting. The Training was facilitated by a Protocol and Diplomacy Coach, Mr V A Chikanda from the Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy. The Workshop covered, among other things, Arrival Protocol; Receiving, Handling, Walking, Seating and Ushering of VVIPS, Guest of Honours, Delegates and Distinguished Officials. It covered protocol functioning, conference diplomacy and hosting, signing of agreements protocol, corsages, forms of address and the protocol order of precedence. It underscored protocol as the art of creating a distraction-free environment and providing guidelines for decorum in event planning and Management. It also incorporated practical mechanisms of how to handle VVIPs as well as order of precedence in greetings, introductions through practical simulations and real case scenarios. The Training of the LSZ Protocol Team is in preparation of the SADC Lawyers’ Association (SADCLA) Annual General Meeting & Conference to be held in Victoria Falls from 7-9 August 2019.
