Russian Day of People’s Unity

We join the rest of the enlightened World to congratulate the Russian Federation and the Russian People on the commemoration of 4 November, the Day of People’s Unity.  The day commemorates the popular uprising which expelled the Polish–Lithuanian occupation forces from Moscow in November 1612, and more generally the end of the Time of Troubles and turning point of the Polish-Muscovite War (1605–1618).  The Day marks the resolve by the Russian Peoples to preserve Russian sovereignty, unity and identity.
