His Excellency Ambassador Mpakama Mbete encouraged the Youths and those seeking employment to take advantage of NEPAD job opportunities. He mentioned that NEPAD is playing a significant role to curb high levels of unemployment in the continent.

A focus on African Renaissance gives an opportunity to reflect on Africa’s self-reliance trajectory and the need to demystify, appropriate and popularize our history, our shared values, and our narrative about the state of Africa today, in honor of the generations that went before us and to inspire current and future generations. Ambassador Mbete vividly emphasized that African natives in the diaspora have a big role to play in Africa since their experiences cannot be underestimated.

Ambassador Mbete reiterated that Zimbabweans in the diaspora are respected and cherished for their hard work, level of education and unconditional commitment. It is estimated that about 35 000 Zimbabweans are permanently working in Australia and many have contributed to a paradigm shift of South African economy.

Xenophobia has been a problem which has disturbed international peace and development and it has been since condemned. Nevertheless, His Excellency clearly emphasized that Xenophobia is not born and bred by South Africans but the rationale behind that catastrophe is a multicultural society since the colonial period. South Africa has embraced foreigners from every corner of Africa and it is in South Africa’s vision 2030 to quell inequalities at all levels.
