The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Harare hosted a National Day celebration on 29 October 2026, marking the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye. The event brought together government officials, diplomats and other distinguished guests, including Ambassadors V.A. Chikanda, Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy (ZID).

Speaking at the celebration, the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye, Her Excellency Berna Kasnakli  Versteden, highlighted the longstanding ties between Türkiye and Zimbabwe and the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries. The Guest of Honour,  Ambassador Petronella Nyagura, Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, also reaffirmed the importance of continued engagement and cooperation between Zimbabwe and Türkiye.

The celebration provided an opportunity to commemorate Türkiye’s national heritage while strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties between the two countries. The participation of the Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy reflected its continued engagement with the diplomatic community and its commitment to promoting diplomacy, international relations and cooperation.
